SEC EDGAR data from CorpWatch has been imported. This adds well north of 100,000 corporations from red states. 10 May 2025 23:14New data from SEC EDGAR on the way, database fixes
Still working with the CorpWatch dump of the SEC EDGAR database. We're likely to add about 150000 records soon. This includes general information for a great many publicly traded companies in red states. It also necessitates a patch-up of the code that handled searching the database so that it behaves less badly with very large lists of results. It turns out that the SEC EDGAR database has a pretty complete list of pUS publlicly trades companies, and CorpWatch has a much more reasonable, reformatted version of this data available. Should be an easy way to import at least basic descriptions and locations of a large number of businesses. Watch this space. 24 April 2025 19:35There is another Praxis Project out of San Francisco
It has come to our attention that we're not the only "Praxis Project" around, and there is another project out of San Francisco using the moniker "The Praxis Project." As enthusiastic as we are about their mission, these projects are entirely unrelated. It is worth making an effort not to dilute someone else's brand, so to speak. We have made some changes to avoid confusion between the two. This project will now be called "The Economic Praxis Project," or just "Economic Praxis Project," throughout the site. This will differentiate us from this other, seemingly very worthwhile, project, and it will emphasize exactly the kind of praxis we're about. PraXis MAGABase seems unique enough to avoid confusion, and so, references to the MAGABase will remain unchanged for now.

Made some adjustments to the site to get the news page hooked in, and to adjust the underlying structure to be easier to maintain. You'll see some new navion buttons, and some minor formatting adjustments.

It seems like it would be useful to have a news page. So far, there is an RSS feed with a couple of updates in it. More to come. 17 April 2025 01:16Fortune 1000 lists imported
Imported data from the last few years of Fortune 1000 lists into the MAGABase today. This provides a few hundred more entries all at once. The data on the organizations are a bit sparse in the list, but at least the city and state of the company headquarters' should be correct, which means it's sufficient to know that some of the organizations should definitely be in the MAGABase. Will try to update all of these new records eventually, probably as more changes are made or as information comes to light regarding these various organizations.
